This evening in the Tabla microdistrict in Uzhhorod during a thunderstorm, lightning struck a wooden house, which caught fire in less than a minute. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to journalist Vitaliy Hlahol.
«Several local residents claim to have seen the moment of the lightning strike - at that exact moment, the roof of the house caught fire. According to eyewitnesses, the fire started literally right after the strike,» - the message states.
It is possible that the fire broke out due to damage to the electrical wiring as a result of the lightning strike.
Two brigades of rescuers from the State Emergency Service quickly arrived at the scene and began to extinguish the fire. The owner of the house was not at home at that moment - he was outside of Uzhhorod.
Previous instances of lightning strikes on houses
Last year in Ternopil, lightning struck a high-rise building. And in May this year - one of the houses in the capital's Obolon.
When a strong lightning struck the house in the Tabla microdistrict in Uzhhorod, a fire broke out, which was promptly extinguished by rescuers. Fortunately, the owner was far from home at that moment. Similar cases of lightning strikes on houses have occurred before, including in Ternopil and in Obolon in Kyiv.Read also
