From the 30th week of pregnancy, women may also apply for paid maternity leave. The standard leave lasts 126 calendar days—70 days before childbirth and 56 days after. In cases of complicated births or the delivery of two or more children, the postnatal portion extends to 70 days. This shows that the law accounts for various scenarios that may arise during pregnancy.
