The Verkhovna Rada appointed Shmyhal as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy.
Appointment of Denis Shmyhal
According to Novyny.live: The Verkhovna Rada appointed Denis Shmyhal as the first Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Energy of Ukraine. This decision was made during a plenary session on January 14, when 248 members of parliament voted 'for' his appointment.
It is worth noting that the previous voting, which took place on January 13, did not yield a positive result, and the parliament did not support Shmyhal's candidacy for the position of Minister of Energy. Along with the appointment of Shmyhal, Mykhailo Fedorov was also elected to a new position on January 14. On the same day, the Verkhovna Rada extended martial law and mobilization in Ukraine.
Challenges of Energy Security
The appointment of Denis Shmyhal as Minister of Energy comes against the backdrop of challenging energy conditions in Ukraine, particularly due to challenges related to the war. In the context of the continuation of martial law and mobilization, the new Deputy Prime Minister must focus on ensuring the energy security of the country, which is critically important for the functioning of the state in conditions of conflict.
This decision also indicates the stability of the political situation in the country and the willingness to continue important reforms in the energy sector.
