Ukraine's Parliament Approves Budget Amendments: Key Funding for NABU, Energy Ministry, and Chornobyl.
State Budget Adjustments Passed
According to Novyny.live: On June 10, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada approved a bill amending the State Budget, with 242 lawmakers voting in favor. Notably, a proposal to restore the Road Fund was not supported. In total, eight amendments were adopted during the second reading.
The budget changes introduce several critical financial measures. For instance, salaries for employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) will now be calculated based on a subsistence minimum of 3,328 hryvnias. Additionally, 10 million hryvnias have been allocated to support the State Fisheries Agency's operations.
Funding for Key Sectors
Furthermore, the approved amendments include:
- An increase in funding for the Ministry of Energy's administrative apparatus by 559.1 million hryvnias;
- 127.5 million hryvnias allocated for mine closures;
- An additional 599.1 million hryvnias provided to the State Agency for Exclusion Zone Management;
- 46.1 million hryvnias earmarked for the State Energy Supervision Inspectorate.
It is worth noting that earlier, on June 7, the Rada passed a law on taxing digital platforms, which will take effect in January 2027. Meanwhile, 46 severely wounded Ukrainian defenders remain in captivity.
Overall, these budget amendments aim to support various economic and social sectors, though they leave unresolved issues like the restoration of the Road Fund.
The adoption of these State Budget changes reflects the government's efforts to adapt fiscal policy to current economic realities, particularly by focusing on supporting social services and key state institutions.
However, the lack of support for reviving the Road Fund could impact infrastructure projects in the country that require urgent funding. The situation warrants ongoing monitoring, as these budget shifts may have significant implications for Ukraine's economic and social development.
