The TikTok Ban in the US Will Take Effect on January 19

In court today, January 17, a law was upheld that bans TikTok in the United States. The ban will take effect on January 19 if the company ByteDance, which owns the platform, does not find investors. This information is indicated in the Supreme Court ruling.

There is no doubt that for more than 170 million Americans TikTok offers a unique and broad way for expression, is a means of interaction and a source for community. But Congress has ruled that divestment is necessary to address legitimate national security concerns related to TikTok's data collection methods and links to a foreign adversary.

The administration of elected US President Donald Trump plans to try to find a way to prevent the ban on the app. President Trump stated on the social network Truth Social that the Supreme Court's decision was expected and everyone should respect it.

The president also emphasized that it all depends on him and he will make the decision regarding TikTok himself. He wants to resolve this issue soon.
