Amputee Veterans Walk the Runway at Ukrainian Fashion Week: JULIYA KROS Unveils Adaptive Clothing Line.
Adaptive Fashion Takes Center Stage at Ukrainian Fashion Week
According to Novyny.live: At Ukrainian Fashion Week FW26–27, the label JULIYA KROS introduced a collection of adaptive clothing designed for veterans. Soldiers fitted with prosthetics walked the runway, showcasing the line titled 'Transformation as a State of Conscious Strength.' A dedicated segment of the collection focuses on garments tailored for Ukrainians who have undergone amputations.
Vasyl Virastyuk also made an appearance on the catwalk, walking alongside Kristina Sanina, a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Designer Yuliya Perekrestova emphasized that fashion cannot remain detached from social issues, highlighting the growing need for adaptive apparel in today's world.
Ukrainian Athletes Shine on the International Stage
In other notable achievements, Ukrainian athlete Ruslan Ivanov secured three gold medals and one silver at an international competition in Madrid. Mykhailo Drobotienko, a world record holder in adaptive strongman and a silver medalist at the World Para Jiu-Jitsu Championships, also shared his thoughts on this new initiative.
Mykhailo Drobotienko: 'This is a very good initiative. It is necessary for our guys. I have been using prosthetics for four years now, and I used to have to sew extra zippers into my clothes or make other adjustments myself. Here, everything is ready-made. I hope the day will come when guys can walk into any regular store and find inclusive clothing.'
This event underscores the critical importance of supporting veterans and integrating inclusive solutions into the fashion industry—changes that can significantly improve the lives of those who have suffered severe injuries.
The presentation of adaptive clothing at Ukrainian Fashion Week marks a major step toward raising awareness about the needs of veterans and people with disabilities. It illustrates how fashion can serve as a platform for social change, fostering inclusion and support for individuals facing daily challenges. Such initiatives have the potential to build a more inclusive society and enhance the quality of life for people with limited mobility. This milestone in Ukrainian fashion highlights a broader global movement toward accessibility and representation in the industry.
