A fire broke out in Kyiv due to a grenade in a café

On August 14, 2024, an unusual incident occurred in Kyiv. In the café "ZigZag" on Reitarska Street, the premises filled with smoke as a result of the activation of a training grenade. This was reported by the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klichko.

According to preliminary information, a waiter at the establishment handed a grenade to one of the visitors, who mistook it for a souvenir. The guest began to spin the item, causing it to explode. Fortunately, no one was injured, and no damage was reported.

Klichko initially reported the detonation of the grenade and the dispatch of emergency services to the scene. He later clarified that it was a training grenade that caused only smoke.

Rescuers from the State Emergency Service promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance.
