The West is no longer a safe haven: experts on a new reality for Ukrainians.
The illusion of security in Europe has turned out to be unreal
According to inkorr.com: The feeling that the war can be 'waited out' in a safe Europe and return to a previous life has finally been dispelled. Western countries, which many Ukrainians considered a place of refuge, are also facing a difficult crisis and becoming less friendly to refugees. The only way for Ukrainians to survive is to unite in formed communities within the country.
These conclusions were voiced by analysts Yuriy Romanenko and Vitaliy Kulyk during a discussion on the 'Yuriy Romanenko' YouTube channel.
A new situation for Ukrainians in Europe
Experts emphasize that many people in society believe that after the end of the war, life will instantly return to its usual state of 2021. However, this desire is an illusion, they warn.
'Most people who want to wait it out believe that as soon as everything is over, suddenly 2021 will begin again. Just like that — a magical switch,' noted Vitaliy Kulyk.
Yuriy Romanenko emphasized events before World War I, highlighting that expectations for quick changes may be misguided.
Do not rely on safety in Europe
Experts express outrage over the lack of stable peace, noting that attempts to 'wait it out' in European countries may lead to new harsh realities. They emphasize that global changes affect everyone, and the notion of the West as a safe haven is now considered outdated.
'You might end up in Poland where a Russian drone will hit, or you will go to serve in the Polish army and defend Polish borders. Or you might find yourself in Germany or Sweden where a massacre is starting,' warns Romanenko.
Vitaliy Kulyk adds that the realities for Ukrainians abroad may turn out to be different from what they expected, and in times of crisis, they may be perceived as 'outsiders.'
Experienced analysts believe that the illusion of safety in Europe has already been dispelled, and Ukrainians should prepare for new realities where old perceptions of a stable and safe West may prove to be deceptive.
The analysts' conclusions indicate that Ukrainians in Europe must be aware of current challenges and adapt to new conditions. The crisis that has engulfed many countries is a reminder that safety is not only a geographical aspect but also a social and economic one, requiring careful attention and readiness for change.
