According to ТСН: To station a foreign military contingent in Ukraine, one of two conditions must be met, both of which depend on Washington's decision.

This information was provided by Ukrainian MP Yegor Chernyev in an interview with a journalist.

Scenarios for Involvement of Foreign Forces

According to the parliamentarian, currently, two main scenarios for the involvement of foreign militaries are being considered:

  • The first option involves the official consent of Russia for the presence of a peacekeeping or military contingent. This scenario currently appears unlikely as the aggressor state is not willing to confirm such agreements.
  • The second way is that the United States is ready to act as a security guarantor for European states willing to send their troops to Ukraine.
"Without such guarantees, our partners are not ready for a direct confrontation," he noted.

This practically means an expansion of the security 'umbrella', similar to Article 5 of the Washington Treaty (collective defense of NATO).

Without clear certainty about Washington's support, European partners are not prepared to take risks and enter an open armed conflict with Russia.

Security Guarantees and Negotiations

The issue of security guarantees that closely align with NATO standards is currently the central topic of negotiations between Kyiv and Western partners, Chernyev emphasized.

We remind that it was previously stated that the strike with "Oreshnik" on Lviv was not a signal for Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian publicist and commentator Vitaly Portnikov.

According to his statement, the Kremlin is trying to force Ukraine to capitulate through cold, while Russia wants to use fear as a weapon in its relations with European countries.

"It is the desire to show that Putin has a weapon that European countries cannot protect themselves against," Portnikov said.

Thus, security issues remain at the center of interest not only for the Ukrainian government but also for the international community. Cooperation between Ukraine and its Western partners, especially the USA, is crucial in resisting Russia's aggression. This also highlights the need for clear and effective diplomacy under the challenging conditions of modern global security, as decisions made in Washington can influence the situation in Ukraine and the region as a whole.
