Housing Vouchers for Military Personnel and Veterans: Key Eligibility Requirements Revealed.
Military Benefits: How to Qualify for a Housing Voucher
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian service members and war veterans can access various benefits, including a housing voucher, but specific conditions must be met. While personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are entitled to multiple privileges, securing this housing assistance requires adherence to strict criteria.
Under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1176, a war veteran who has been assigned a second disability group is not eligible for a housing voucher worth 2 million UAH. This means that not all veterans can take advantage of this financial aid. Meanwhile, according to Resolution No. 719, monetary compensation becomes available only after an individual is placed on a housing waiting list. Vladyslav Deriy explained:
“As for the right to monetary compensation under Resolution No. 719, it will be possible to claim it, but only after the father is registered on the housing waiting list.”
Conditions for Entering the Housing Waiting List
There is also a critical detail regarding the requirements for joining the housing waiting list. Citizens who deliberately worsened their living conditions are barred from registration for five years from the date of that deterioration. This rule can significantly affect access to benefits.
If an individual owns an apartment of 45 square meters and does not hold internally displaced person (IDP) status, they are also ineligible for the 2 million UAH housing voucher, as Vladyslav Deriy noted:
“If your father has an apartment of 45 square meters and no IDP status, he is not entitled to a housing voucher worth 2 million UAH.”
Therefore, military members and veterans must carefully review the conditions to make use of available benefits and compensation. Proper documentation and compliance with all requirements can be decisive in obtaining financial support.
Given the current challenges facing Ukrainian military personnel and veterans, these benefits and housing voucher opportunities are vital for supporting their well-being. However, the complexities and restrictions of these programs demand attention and awareness from those seeking to utilize them. It is essential for service members to be fully informed about all conditions and nuances related to housing vouchers and other benefits to avoid unexpected difficulties in the future.
