Military tax increased fourfold: where did 116 billion hryvnias go

According to inkorr.com: In the nine months of this year, Ukrainian taxpayers transferred about 116.7 billion hryvnias in military tax to the state budget. This is four times more than in the same period last year (+84.2 billion hryvnias), as noted by the State Tax Service.

In 2020, only 32.5 billion hryvnias were collected in the same nine months. Such a significant increase in military tax is explained by both the increase in the rate to 5% starting from December 1, 2024, and the conscious support of the military by taxpayers who timely fulfill their obligations.

The largest amounts were paid in:
  • Kyiv - 37.7 billion UAH,
  • Dnipropetrovsk region - 13.2 billion UAH,
  • Lviv region - 9 billion UAH,
  • Kharkiv region - 7.4 billion UAH.

The military tax is paid by all categories of taxpayers.

Military tax rates for different categories of taxpayers

  • Private entrepreneurs of the first, second, and fourth groups - 10% of the minimum wage set on January 1 of the reporting year (in 2025, the monthly advance payment is 800 UAH).
  • Single tax payers of the third group (except for e-residents) - 1% of received income quarterly.
  • Entrepreneurs under the general taxation system - 5% of net annual taxable income.
  • From hired workers - 5% of the accrued salary.

Thus, in the nine months of this year, the amounts of military tax increased almost four times compared to the same period last year, indicating an increased awareness and willingness of taxpayers to support Ukraine's national defense.

The amount of military tax paid indicates the growing social responsibility of Ukrainians in difficult times. Thanks to these financial revenues, the state budget receives additional opportunities to support the army and develop the country's defense capabilities. It is important that the increase in tax occurs amid increased citizen activity in fulfilling their tax obligations.
