Taught History and Was Passionate About Sports Tourism. Remembering Andriy Mazur.
Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were claimed by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Andriy Mazur.
Defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers, on October 22, 2024, the soldier, history teacher and Ukraine defender Andriy Mazur fell. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.
Andriy was born on August 9, 1973. He studied at the Lviv General Education School I-III degrees No. 43 of the Lviv City Council of the Lviv region. He earned a higher education at the historical faculty of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
After completing his studies, he worked at the Secondary General Education School No. 22 named after V.S. Stefanyk in Lviv. Later, he taught history, defense of Ukraine, and health basics at the Lviv Linguistic Gymnasium.
Andriy Mazur was involved in sports tourism, was a candidate for master of sports, and led a club at the Lviv Regional Youth Center for Local Lore, Travel, and Tourism.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, he stood to protect the state from the occupiers as part of the fifth border Sumy detachment of the Eastern Regional Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
On October 22, 2024, the life of Ukraine's defender Andriy Mazur was cut short.
Students of the Lviv Linguistic Gymnasium warmly remember their teacher:
I remember Andriy Mykhailovych always smiling, enthusiastic. His posts-reports about different competitions often started with "Hooray!", "That was exciting!", "Excellent result". He charged the children with his energy. They went with him on "paths of heroes." He was a role model, an example of dignity... It is very painful from the loss. May he rest with God!
These constant losses are already beyond comprehension. And truly the best, the brightest are dying. A wonderful person, a teacher the children talked about the most, with whom they went on the Gorgany Race after graduating. I cannot comprehend this. I cannot forgive this. Evil must be punished, writes Olena Tarnavska.
Very sad. The warmest school memories are associated with him, recalls teacher Ulyana Kit.
Eternal memory to the hero! For me, he was one of the best teachers of my entire life! wrote Pavlo Zayets.
The farewell to Ukraine's defender took place on October 28 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and then at Rynok Square. The serviceman was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
Andriy Mazur is survived by his wife, two children, and a brother.
The Chief Editor joins the moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for the Motherland. We remember those killed by Russian invaders, light candles of memory, and bow our heads in mourning during the national moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all the military, civilians, and children, all who died fighting against the Russian occupiers and as a result of enemy attacks on Ukrainian cities and villages.
