Putin Agreed to Security Guarantees for Ukraine: What It Means.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated that an agreement has been reached with Russian President Putin on 'reliable security guarantees' for Ukraine, similar to NATO's protection. These guarantees are expected to provide protection against further Russian invasions.
'We have agreed on reliable security guarantees, which I would call revolutionary,' Witkoff emphasized.
Putin also agreed to a 'legislative commitment' from Russia regarding not entering any other territory concerning Ukraine or other European countries as part of a potential agreement.
Details regarding territorial exchanges and others have not yet been specified, but they will be discussed during Ukrainian President Zelensky's visit to the White House.
In the context of these talks, Zelensky expressed his intention to consider Ukraine's accession to the European Union as part of security guarantees, while Trump showed willingness to provide security guarantees to Ukraine under certain conditions.
