Volker spoke about the stage of the Trump administration's work on the peace plan for Ukraine.

Special representative of the USA in the previous Trump administration Kurt Volker stated that the new US administration is studying information to develop a plan to end the war in Ukraine.
Volker shared his thoughts at the Munich Security Conference in a comment for Ukrinform.
He noted that the team of the US president, in particular General Kellogg, is gathering information. They are trying to obtain the opinions of allies and Ukraine regarding their readiness and calculations for the future. The general also plans to visit Ukraine in the near future.
Then Kellogg will pass the gathered information to the president, who will determine an action plan to end the war.
Volker noted that the US president is making efforts to create conditions for negotiations and a ceasefire.
Volker also emphasized that three things are important for the Trump administration: a ceasefire, preventing new attacks from the Russian Federation, and distributing the burden between the USA and Europe.
The diplomat noted that the USA supports the involvement of Europe in ensuring the security of Ukraine. However, the Trump administration believes that Europe should do more, and the USA will support it.
The first step towards achieving peace is a ceasefire, Volker added.
He also denies plans to exclude Kyiv from future negotiations and supports the principle of 'nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.'
Such negotiations will involve various parties, including presidents, meetings in Brussels, and calls to leaders of other countries - Putin, Zelensky, and others. This is an important part of the process.
Earlier, Zelensky explained why Putin needs the continuation of the war.
