According to Korrespondent.net: Volkswagen is reforming its electric car naming strategy, using well-known models instead of new designations. Today, it confirmed that the serial version of the ID.2all concept will be named ID. Polo, and a sporty version ID. Polo GTI will also be released.

Debut of the new models

The first prototypes will be showcased this week at the IAA auto show in Munich. There will also be a presentation of another new model - the electric crossover ID. Cross, which will be an 'environmentally friendly' version of the compact T-Cross for the European and Latin American markets. Both models are planned to go into production in 2026.

'Polo is a symbol of reliability, individuality, and history. That is why we again give our ID models names that evoke emotions and are familiar to people in everyday life,' explained VW board member Martin Sanders.

Changes in design and interior

Earlier, it was assumed that the ID.2all concept would become an electric Golf, but this role will be taken by the larger ID. Golf model, which the company is working on separately.

Volkswagen has also promised to take customer feedback into account: new electric vehicles will have physical buttons alongside digital elements, and interiors will become higher quality thanks to the use of soft materials and more convenient ergonomics.
