Russian Military Suffers 35,000 Casualties Per Month, With a Critical Threshold of 1,400 Daily Losses.
Russian Army Casualties in the War
According to UATV: In an interview with the FREEДOM TV channel, Pavlo Lakiyechuk, head of military programs at the Center for Global Studies 'Strategy XXI', discussed Russian military losses. He noted that during the 2023 battle for Bakhmut, Russian casualties reached a peak of 1,400 personnel per day. These figures provide insight into the intense attrition of the ongoing conflict. On average, Russian losses in recent months have ranged between 900 and 1,100 soldiers daily.
A Critical Loss Threshold
According to Lakiyechuk's data, Russian troop losses in the fighting for Bakhmut peaked on January 24, 2023, at 1,400 per day. The expert emphasized that reaching a critical threshold of 1,300-1,400 daily casualties could become a breaking point for the Russian occupying army. He also stressed that 30,000 losses per month is a critical figure for Russian forces.
Lakiyechuk further stated that current Russian army losses amount to approximately 35,000 personnel per month. He indicated that if these losses continue to increase, it could significantly impact the Russian army's ability to sustain combat operations.
'As Ukraine's new Minister of Defense stated, our goal is 50,000 eliminated Russians per month.' — Pavlo Lakiyechuk
This data points to substantial Russian army casualties amid active hostilities, which could seriously affect their future combat capability. Sustaining high loss levels, particularly up to 1,400 per day, may force Russia to reconsider its war strategy. Maintaining such a casualty rate could prove critical for both the morale and physical condition of Russian troops.
