Who Was Charged with the Murder of Jamie Faith?

Janice Faith confessed to orchestrating the murder of her husband Jamie in 2020.

She persuaded her secret boyfriend Darrin Lopez to kill Jamie, who was shot seven times outside their home.

Jamie was attacked during a morning walk with Janice and their dog.

A masked assailant shot him three times in the head, three times in the chest, and once in the groin, before fleeing in a black pickup truck with a 'T' decal.

Janice claimed she was attacked and tied up with tape. Jamie was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the murder, Janice appeared on local television in Dallas, urging the killer to come forward, stating:

I just hope that at some point, maybe, this person can recognise the gravity of what they’ve done and feel some sort of guilt enough to come forward

Jennifer Faith

Janice and Jamie, an American Airlines manager, met on a blind date 15 years before the incident and married in 2012.

Jamie adopted Janice's daughter from a previous marriage.

The couple moved to Dallas from Arizona in 2017.

Later, Janice rekindled her relationship with her high school sweetheart Darrin, a military veteran, and they began an affair.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Lopez drove a black Nissan pickup truck with a 'T' decal, the same as seen at the crime scene.

When Lopez was arrested in January 2021, investigators found a murder weapon, credit cards in Janice's name, and a mask that matched the description of that worn by the assailant.

He was charged with the murder of Jamie and a federal crime of using a weapon. He pleaded not guilty.

Janice Faith maintained suspicious contacts with Lopez after his arrest, sending him money, gifts, and credit cards paid for through fundraising.

Lopez confessed that Janice asked him to kill Jamie, claiming he acted out of fabricated accusations of spousal abuse.

Faith was charged with obstructing justice in February 2021, as text messages between her and Lopez showed that she was aware he was a suspect but kept in contact with him without informing the police.

These messages indicated coordinated stories, including instructions for Lopez to claim he was an old friend going through a divorce.

In September 2021, prosecutors added a charge of murder for hire, which could lead to the death penalty.

Ultimately, Janice pleaded guilty to this charge in February 2022.

In exchange for the plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop the charge of obstructing justice and recommended life imprisonment.

Janice Faith was sentenced to life in prison and was also ordered to pay a $250,000 fine and $6,500 in restitution to Jamie's family for funeral expenses.

Prosecutor Jeffrey Boshek summarized the case as involving “lies, deceit, and ultimately the murder of a loving spouse.”

He added: “After attempting to manipulate family, friends, and concerned citizens, Ms. Faith has now acknowledged her horrific actions.”

Although Janice did not pull the trigger, she was found responsible for orchestrating the murder.

The Trial of Darrin Lopez

Darrin Lopez was found guilty of the murder of Jamie Faith after a week-long trial in July 2023.

The jury deliberated for less than an hour before delivering the verdict. Lopez was sentenced to 62 years in prison.

During the trial, Lopez expressed remorse, claiming he believed he was protecting Janice, and was manipulated by fabricated accusations of abuse.

The defense attorney argued that Lopez was under the influence of traumatic brain injury and PTSD suffered during his military service.

However, prosecutors emphasized that he had other options to avoid murdering Jamie.

Lopez is attempting to appeal the verdict.

Murder Under Surveillance

The murder of Jamie Faith was captured on surveillance camera near his home, showing the moments before and after he was shot seven times.

This footage became pivotal evidence, as investigators uncovered the shocking truth about the crime.

What initially appeared to be a random attack turned out to be a murder conspiracy orchestrated by Janice.

Video footage, along with digital traces from phones and financial documents, helped track down Janice's boyfriend Darrin, who carried out the murder.

The secret video, combined with a vast digital trail of text messages and emails, including fabricated abuse accusations sent to Lopez by Janice, revealed a criminal conspiracy and cover-up attempts.

The film 'My Wife, My Killer, and the Secret Video' will air on Channel 5 at 9:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

This case has drawn public attention and illustrated how false narratives and manipulations can lead to horrific consequences. Examining the details of this crime underscores the importance of justice and prompts deep reflections on the moral dilemmas that arise in complex personal relationships.
