Ed was involved in exhuming corpses and using body parts to make clothing and accessories.
Among his horrific creations were a chair upholstered with human skin, face masks, and a 'woman's suit' that he could wear.

The "Dead from Plainfield" confessed to murdering two women, but his involvement in many other crimes is also likely.
His first victim was 54-year-old Mary Hogan, who worked at a tavern Ed often visited.
She disappeared in December 1954, and three years later Gein confessed to shooting and killing her.
The second victim, 58-year-old Bernice Worden, was the owner of a hardware store, whom Gein also shot.
Both women were chosen by him because they resembled his deceased mother.

The authorities tried to link him to recent murders and disappearances, but no concrete evidence was found.
