Concerns first arose that Saliba might leave the club for the Spanish giant when his contract expires in 2027. But now it has been revealed that the center-back has decided to stay and has agreed to new terms.
According to SunSport, the official announcement of the contract extension will not be made soon.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the new contract runs until 2030.
Saliba's salary is expected to be at the level of Bukayo Saka, who is the club's highest-paid player, earning around £300,000 a week.
In March, Saliba already stated that he is happy in North London. Then, in July, when asked about signing a new contract, he replied:
“Yes, I hope so — of course, there is nothing right now, but there is good conversation with my agent and the club. Let's see.”
Now his optimism seems to have manifested into reality, and this significantly impacts the club’s long-term plans.
The last trophy Arsenal won was in 2020 when they celebrated victory in the FA Cup, and Saliba joined the team later, making his first-team debut only in 2023. Previously, he played on loan at Saint-Étienne and Marseille, back home.

However, Saliba continues to play a key role in Arsenal's return to the top of the table and regular play in the Champions League.
This season, he has participated in all but two matches for Arteta's team.
The only game he missed was the encounter with Nottingham Forest due to an ankle injury sustained in the match against Liverpool, where he was substituted in the fifth minute. He also did not play in the Champions League match against Athletic Bilbao.
Nonetheless, Saliba showcased his class during the victory over Port Vale in the Carabao Cup, providing a beautiful pass to Leandro Trossard, who scored the second goal in the match, finishing it with a score of 2-0.
This victory allowed Arsenal to progress to the fourth round, where they will face Brighton.
On Sunday, Arsenal faces a tough away trip to Newcastle for a late kickoff in the Premier League.
Finalists of the last three seasons are currently five points behind league leaders, reigning champions Liverpool, but will try to keep pace with Arne Slot's team, which has won all its matches so far.
