Alex Albon's Bolide Caught Fire in Singapore: What Happened to the Williams Brakes.
Alex Albon's Troubles at the Singapore Grand Prix
According to The Sun: Alex Albon experienced a true nightmare in Formula 1 in Singapore when his car began to smoke.
The Williams driver had just returned to the pit lane after his first lap during the first practice.
Later, smoke began to emit from the back of Albon's car.
The team's mechanics rushed with fire extinguishers, trying to tame the flames in the 29-year-old driver's brakes, while Albon remained in his cockpit.
Fortunately, Albon was able to exit the car when the fire was extinguished.
However, the car continued to smoke for several more minutes, and the Williams team confirmed that there was a problem with some components that are currently being investigated.
Team representatives expressed confidence that they would be able to prepare Albon's car for the second practice.
Chief engineer James Vowles noted that the brake temperatures rose above 1000 degrees, complicating the possibility of repairs and Albon's return to the track.
This start to the Formula 1 weekend was far from optimal, especially considering that his teammate Carlos Sainz achieved a podium at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Albon acknowledged that the Williams car typically struggles in warm conditions, but the uneven surface at the Marina Bay Street Circuit could have helped.

This weekend's races saw the FIA issue a 'thermal warning' for the first time, as temperatures could reach 31 degrees Celsius.
Drivers are recommended to use cooling vests that ensure comfort by circulating cold water during the race.
Using the vests is optional, but for those who opt out, the car must be additionally heavier by 0.5 kg to avoid an advantage.
Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin topped the first practice with a time of 1:31.116.
Charles Leclerc from Ferrari was just a tenth of a second behind, followed by Max Verstappen from Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton.
Oscar Piastri from McLaren finished the practice just after them, while Lando Norris was two tenths behind.
Albon was unable to set a time due to the brake issue.
Alex Albon's problems at the Singapore Grand Prix put the Williams team's future performances in jeopardy. Given the technical difficulties and safety elements, the team must find ways to improve so that the driver can return to the track in optimal form. The rising temperature also indicates the need for a measured approach to managing mechanical systems in extreme heat conditions. Read also
