Xiaomi 17 Ultra with mechanical zoom ring: new flagship presented.

According to Korrespondent.net: The company Xiaomi has presented its new flagship smartphone Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China. Alongside the regular model, a special version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica edition debuted, which features a unique design and a mechanical zoom ring that will attract mobile photography enthusiasts.

Technical specifications of Xiaomi 17 Ultra

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is equipped with a triple main camera branded Leica. The main module has a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 1050L sensor of 1-inch format with LOFIC technology support. It is complemented by a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens Samsung HPE with continuous optical zoom and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus.

On the front panel, there is a 6.9-inch flat AMOLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a resolution of 2608×1200 pixels. The peak brightness of the screen reaches 3500 nits, and protection is provided by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. For selfies, there is a 50-megapixel camera, and ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the display ensures biometric security.

Performance and autonomy

The smartphone operates on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and is available with up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage. The device comes with the HyperOS 3.0 shell, which includes AI-based features.

Power is provided by a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 6800 mAh with support for fast wired charging at 90 W and wireless charging at 50 W. Reverse charging via cable at 22.5 W is also provided. Among other features are an infrared port, dual SIM card support, stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio, a four-microphone system, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, satellite communication, and body protection according to IP66, IP68, and IP69 standards. The standard version is available in black, purple, green, and white colors.

Special Leica edition

The special version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica edition retains all the technical specifications of the main model, but has a number of unique solutions. The main feature is the mechanical zoom ring that allows changing the focal length, exposure, and white balance. The design of the smartphone is done in a bi-color style inspired by Leica M series cameras, with a ribbed frame and a red Leica logo on the back panel.

The Leica version also includes special Leica Moment modes with a 3:2 aspect ratio, a separate security chip, and support for dual satellite communication.

Prices and sales dates

Sales of both versions in China will start on December 27 through the official Xiaomi online store. The standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra costs from $995 for the 12/512 GB configuration to $1200 for the 16 GB / 1 TB version. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica edition will cost $1140 for the model with 512 GB memory and $1280 for the version with 1 TB of storage.
