A month before the war, a petition appeared on the president's website regarding… the denazification of Ukraine.
According to a study by "Glavkom," moderators of the president's e-petitions site calmly register petitions that are often strange, provocative, erroneous, and even anti-state in content. This is discussed in the investigation of "Glavkom" "Hero of Ukraine – Iryna Farion. How Bankova Stymied the Petition".
A month before the full-scale war, on January 18, 2022, a petition appeared on the president's website, some theses of which resonated with the goals set by dictator Vladimir Putin.
I ask the President of Ukraine to conduct the denazification of Ukraine
This demand was advocated by citizen Mykola Isaiev. This appeal was registered without problems. Predictably, such a petition was doomed to fail – it was supported by 19 people.
In addition, in the fall of 2022, citizen Denys Herman registered a petition asking President Volodymyr Zelensky to pay attention to the chauvinistic statements of Ms. Farion. However, the head of state didn't have to respond to this strange appeal, as it collected only 83 signatures out of the 25,000 needed.
Also, during the RF invasion, citizens Danylo-Oleksandr Klymiuk and Alina Khomyak asked the country's leader to honor Petrov Mostavchuk (pseudonym MC Petya) with the title Hero of Ukraine and to erect a monument in his honor in Poltava where the sculpture of Russian Tsar Peter I currently stands. However, both petitions collected a meager number of signatures.
Recall that Mostavchuk became widely known after participating in the TV show "Ukraine's Got Talent," where he rapped.
Petition to Award Iryna Farion the Title of "Hero of Ukraine"
As reported by "Glavkom," the collection of signatures for a petition to the Cabinet of Ministers with the proposal to award Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, and People's Deputy Iryna Farion the title of "Hero of Ukraine" (posthumously) has ended in Ukraine. The petition was published on July 24 by Mykhailo Shevelyuk on the government website.
As of September 4, the petition had been signed by 25,000 Ukrainians.
As stated in the petition text, Iryna Farion for many years "strengthened the positions of the state language and through her work made a significant contribution to the preservation of Ukrainian statehood under the conditions of constant cultural and informational expansion from the RF." The authors also note that "the rich scientific heritage and educational activities of Iryna Farion should form the foundation of the Ukrainian-centric worldview of future generations of Ukrainians."
According to the document, Iryna Farion left behind a significant legacy. Among her achievements, the author highlights the organization of the political poster and drawing contest "Language - the basis of your life," the initiation of the project to popularize the Ukrainian book "From the book to the goal," and the creation of the TV projects "Greatness of Personality" and "Gene of Ukrainians." Her work, as stated in the petition, encompasses not only scientific achievements but also active political activities, including the initiation of bills to protect the Ukrainian language.
