The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, avoided answering questions about the possibility of sending German troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission.

Scholz emphasized the importance of a strong Ukrainian army.

“This will be a major task for Europe, the USA, and international partners in the alliance,” said Scholz, adding that questions regarding the security architecture will be addressed in due Time.

The Chancellor stressed that his goal is to see a strong and sovereign Europe.

“We must tackle future challenges firmly and sovereignly, with our backs straight. I am confident that we will be able to take a clear position,” said Scholz.

The German Ministry of Defense stated that the country would not rule out sending troops to Ukraine under certain conditions.

“Germany will not refuse if appropriate frameworks are provided,” said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense at a press conference in Berlin.
