Ukrainian schools may ban communication in Russian language for students and teachers during breaks. This was reported by Member of Parliament Natalia Pipa on her Facebook.

A bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada which provides for the implementation of this ban. It is noted that this bill does not provide for any punishments for violators.

school administrators and teachers will conduct conversations and explanations with them, encouraging children to contribute to the formation of a Ukrainian-speaking environment.

According to Pipa, the methods of work that will help achieve this goal will be prescribed in bylaws if the bill is adopted.

Pipa emphasized that teachers are already obligated to speak Ukrainian according to the laws "On Education" and "On Ensuring the Functioning of Ukrainian as the State Language".

The Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language has the right to impose administrative fines on violators of language legislation.

"Bill №12086 does not introduce additional sanctions for teachers, it only clarifies the existing rules. The main goal of the bill is to clarify that breaks and other activities on the territory of the educational institution are also educational processes. However, it does not aim to punish students and parents," explained Pipa.

The initiative's goal is to create a supportive Ukrainian-speaking environment through dialogue and support, without any punishments for children.

The Ministry of Education also expressed its position on the idea of banning Russian in schools during breaks.
