Pro-Russian Forces in Moldova: Does Transnistria Pose a Threat to Odesa?.
If pro-Russian forces win the elections in Moldova, the self-proclaimed Transnistria may become a base for the Armed Forces of Russia to attack Odesa. This is a strategic move by the Kremlin aimed at diverting the attention of Ukrainian troops from other directions, providing an opportunity for invasion.
Threat from Transnistria
As noted by expert Ruslan Rokhov, 'They will arrive disguised as civilians and transit through Moldova to Transnistria. This can increase the contingent. And this is already a significant risk of a back attack if we are talking about Odesa and Odessa. At the very least, it will lead to the risk of diverting a large number of personnel of the Ukrainian Defense Forces there for security, meaning there will be fewer on the front line.'
The expert also added that in the event of a victory for pro-Russian forces in the elections in Moldova, this country could be drawn into the war. Recently, there were also mentions of the incident with the lifting of planes by Romania during the attack on Odesa, as well as attempts by Russia to use Transnistria to destabilize the situation in the region.
If pro-Russian forces win in Moldova, there is a serious threat of the Russian Federation invading southern Ukraine through Transnistria. This could lead to the stretching of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and significantly complicate the country's defense in other directions.
