The West pushes Ukraine towards Plan "B" against Russia, - WSJ.
Ukraine needs to develop a plan "B" for further confrontation with Russia next year. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, the West still supports the goal of Ukraine's president to expel Russia from its territory, but public support from allies is decreasing. The Russian army, in turn, is making progress on some front sections.
According to European insiders, Ukraine needs to set a more realistic war goal to more actively receive support from European countries. High-ranking officials from Europe believe that a complete victory for Ukraine would require colossal financial efforts from the West, which in their opinion is almost unrealistic. However, negotiations with the USA and the UK can enhance the potential of Ukraine's Armed Forces.
In international negotiations, the issue of Ukraine using long-range missiles for attacks on Russia may be discussed, but no final decision has been made yet.
Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to meet with White House President Joe Biden and other politicians during the UN General Assembly. Kyiv is counting on support from the West, but whether these meetings will take place is still unknown.
The West believes that the results of the upcoming elections in the USA will be crucial for Ukraine's aid, but few believe that such support can last for many years.
It is worth noting that Ukraine previously considered negotiations with Russia on limiting attacks on each other's energy infrastructure.
Republicans have called on Biden to lift restrictions on strikes by Ukraine's Armed Forces on Russia.
