According to inkorr.com: The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been without external electricity supply for more than three days, creating serious safety threats. The last power line was damaged by Russia, and currently, only emergency diesel generators are supplying the cooling and safety systems.

Russian operators of the plant reported that the diesel fuel will last for 20 days. However, if the generators fail, uncontrolled heating of nuclear fuel in the reactors may occur, leading to a catastrophe.

Situation at the nuclear power plant

This situation has been characterized as 'deeply concerning,' and experts consider it potentially catastrophic. According to European standards, a nuclear power plant can operate without power for no more than 72 hours. The Zaporizhzhia NPP has already been in a dangerous state for at least 20 days, a situation not previously observed.

Reaction of the European Union

The European Union has expressed serious concerns regarding the nuclear safety risks arising from Russia's actions at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. At the same time, Russian propaganda is trying to shift the blame onto Ukraine and undermine trust in the IAEA.

Blocking access for experts

IAEA specialists are being blocked from accessing critically important facilities at the plant. The President of Ukraine emphasized that international institutions cannot adequately respond to such emergencies, which in turn creates a risk of catastrophe.

The situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP is causing significant concern in the European Union and around the world. The actions of Russian propaganda, the blocking of IAEA experts, as well as security problems create a basis for active efforts aimed at resolving this crisis and preventing potential catastrophic consequences.
