Convicted of the rape and murder of an 85-year-old resident of the Kirov region of the Russian Federation, former Wagner PMC mercenary Ivan Rossomakhin signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense and again went to war against Ukraine. This was reported by the human rights project "Traumpunkt".

In 2020, the 28-year-old Russian criminal Rossomakhin was sentenced to 14 years in a maximum-security colony for murder and robbery.

After the start of the full-scale war, he joined the Wagner PMC organization and went to fight against Ukraine. After completing his service, he was pardoned by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In the spring of 2023, Rossomakhin returned to his native village of Novy Burets, shortly after which he raped and killed an 85-year-old pensioner.

In April 2024, Rossomakhin was sentenced to 22 years in a colony, and in July the appellate court increased the sentence to 23 years. He was also to pay the victim's relatives two million rubles.

The head of the correctional colony, Ivan Polovnikov, where the convict was serving his sentence, informed the relatives that Rossomakhin had signed a contract and left the colony based on a law passed in March 2024.

It should be noted that in Izhevsk, Russia, Wagner private military company (PMC) fighter Artem Yegorov was sentenced to 15 years in a colony for the murder of a childhood friend and the attempted murder of his girlfriend.
