Arrest of a Terrorist Acting on Russian Orders
According to TSN.ua: A Ukrainian citizen from the Poltava region, who was preparing terrorist attacks on the orders of Russian intelligence services, was apprehended while attempting to follow instructions to plant explosives at a public transport stop. The accused, a resident of Kremenchuk, was first approached with the offer by representatives of Russian special services in May 2025. On May 28, 2025, he arrived in the Lviv region, where he checked into the '612 km' hotel and began preparing to carry out the crime. This incident highlights the persistent threat of foreign-directed sabotage within Ukraine's borders.
Explosive Devices Discovered
Upon his arrest, the following items were found in the suspect's backpack:
- two improvised explosive devices (IEDs);
- portable cameras with power banks;
- wires and tape for assembly.
The suspect himself stated:
"He was promised $1,000 USD for the job."After the explosive devices were discovered, he realized he was 'preparing a terrorist attack.'
The court qualified the accused's actions under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Article 111 - State treason under martial law, and Part 1 of Article 263 - Illegal handling of explosive substances. The final court ruling stipulates a 15-year prison sentence, full confiscation of property, and a fine of 32,090 hryvnias to cover expert examination costs. The court noted that the accused's actions were intended to sow panic, destroy critical infrastructure, and cause casualties among the civilian population. Such plots are part of a broader campaign to destabilize Ukraine from within.
