Peace Talks Top Agenda as Zelensky and Trump Speak Ahead of G7 Summit.
U.S.-Ukraine Presidential Call
According to Espreso.tv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump held a conversation focused on peace efforts and continued support for Ukraine. The call lasted between 30 and 35 minutes, during which Zelensky noted they
discussed many key issues in considerable detail, including, of course, peace.
Zelensky also expressed his best wishes for Trump’s initiatives aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. This dialogue comes at a critical time as both nations seek to coordinate their positions on the conflict.
G7 Summit Meeting
Zelensky emphasized that the two leaders talked about steps that could help bring peace closer now and agreed to hold a more in-depth discussion at the G7 summit, scheduled for June 15-17 in France. During this international gathering, Trump will meet with Zelensky only in a joint working session, as no separate bilateral negotiations between the Ukrainian and U.S. presidents are planned. The call was confirmed by Presidential Communications Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn.
This interaction underscores the importance of international support for Ukraine given the country’s current situation and ongoing peace efforts. Communication between the two nations’ leaders could prove decisive in future conflict resolution talks and in strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States.
