The ammunition plant in Pennsylvania (USA) succeeds in increasing the production of artillery shells for transfer to Ukraine as part of defense assistance by 50%.

The company also plans to introduce additional capacity, according to the Associated Press.

According to Richard Hansen, a representative of the US Army commander at the plant in Scranton (a city in Pennsylvania), the company is currently focused on producing 155 mm caliber shells.

We are working very hard to ensure the achievement of the goal set by the Pentagon," he added.

This Army ammunition plant sends blanks (finished cases) to Iowa, where they are filled with explosive material and equipped with fuses.

It is noted that the plant in Scranton, along with two others in neighboring Wilkes-Barre, recently increased production from 24,000 shells per month to 36,000.

Furthermore, a plant representative told AP that three new production lines are being developed, which will allow the Scranton factory to produce even more critical ammunition.

It should be noted that since 2006, the plant has been operated by General Dynamics under contract with the US government, which owns the facility.
