Zelensky on gas prices: There will be no increases all winter.
According to inkorr.com: President Volodymyr Zelensky in his video address confirmed that the fixed price for gas for households will remain unchanged this winter, despite the challenges posed by the war and the budget.
He reported on the outcomes of a conversation with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and the Security Council's decision: to direct resources to the most affected frontline and border regions.
'Yesterday at the Security Council, we decided to direct additional finances and equipment to the areas that need it. This primarily concerns the frontline and border regions. All of this is already being implemented,' emphasized the president.
Gas tariff for the population for the heating season 2025/2026
The government managed to set the gas tariff at the level of 7.96 UAH per cubic meter, as in the previous year. This decision will help avoid social pressure and save families up to 500 UAH per month.
The savings on gas are part of a larger strategy: resources for social support are planned in the 2026 budget.
'We will also maintain the fixed gas price for household consumers this winter; there will be no increases in gas prices. We also need to start working out how teachers' salaries will increase next year, other social decisions – what has already been approved must be reflected in the state budget and in the specific activities of the government. Resources for this are available,' summarized Zelensky.
Key government steps by the end of 2025
- Funding for frontline regions: equipment and funds are already on the way;
- Gas fixation: no increase for households until spring 2026;
- Salary increases: teachers +10%, other social payments in the budget;
- Support for IDPs: new mechanisms, report soon.
Experts predict that without an increase in gas prices, inflation may decrease to 8%, and internally displaced persons (approximately 5 million) will receive +20% assistance.
Ensuring price stability for gas will be an important step in alleviating the economic difficulties faced by Ukrainians in the context of war. The government continues to adapt its decisions to support the social structure and economy during this challenging period.
