Kyiv Night Attack Injures 11, Including a Child; Zelenskyy Urges Air Defense Supplies.
Russia's Overnight Strikes Across Ukraine
According to UATV: Eleven people, among them a child, were wounded during nighttime attacks by Russian forces on Kyiv. Simultaneously, strikes also hit four other Ukrainian regions:
- Odesa
- Sumy
- Kharkiv
- Chernihiv
Reports indicate Russia deployed over 120 drones and 12 missiles, half of which were ballistic.
Ukrainian President's Response
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the situation, stating:
“Eleven people were injured in Kyiv during the overnight Russian attack, including a child.”He further emphasized that
“Russia used over 120 drones and 12 missiles this past night, half of them ballistic.”This highlights an escalation in Russian aggression and the urgent need for protective measures for civilians.
Zelenskyy called for immediate deliveries of anti-ballistic missiles, stressing: “We expect partners to fulfill their promises regarding support packages to protect our people.” In response to the challenges facing the country, the president signed a decree establishing a Joint Rapid Response Force within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This move aims to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and ensure citizen safety amid the growing threat.
These events reflect the intensifying conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has been ongoing for years. The use of drones and missiles underscores not only the military but also the psychological tactics of the aggressor, aimed at destabilizing Ukraine. The president's announcement of a Joint Rapid Response Force may signal Ukraine's intent to ramp up defensive measures against new challenges. International support remains critically important for the country as it strives to protect its citizens from external aggression.
