Ukraine Won't Cede Land, but Zelensky Is Open to Peace Talks.
Willingness to Negotiate Without Territorial Concessions
According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signaled his readiness to engage in talks aimed at ending the war—but on the condition that no territory is surrendered. In an interview with The Guardian, he stressed that any peace negotiations taking place without Kyiv’s involvement are fundamentally flawed. Zelensky specifically criticized direct discussions between the U.S. and Russia about Ukraine’s future, calling them counterproductive.
'Russia and the United States decided to talk about Ukraine without Ukraine. That was a mistake, especially for America, because Putin weakened the U.S. position. I think he lied to the U.S. president. In any case, we are ready to talk, but we will not give away our territory,' he stated.
Urging Tougher Sanctions on Russia
Additionally, the president called on Western nations to ramp up sanctions against Russia. He views such measures as a vital step in the fight to preserve Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.
These remarks underscore a key principle: Ukraine must have a seat at the table in any negotiations concerning its own future. The firm refusal to concede land highlights the country’s unwavering stance on sovereignty. Meanwhile, the push for stricter sanctions shows that Kyiv sees diplomatic and economic pressure as a crucial tool in its effort to restore full territorial control.
