Zelensky Sends Open Letter to Putin, Proposing a Face-to-Face Meeting to End the War.
Open Letter from Ukraine's President
According to Espreso.tv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sent an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, offering to hold a meeting aimed at ending the ongoing war. The letter was drafted on June 4 and delivered through official diplomatic channels.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged that Moscow had received the letter and that Putin would be informed about it at a later time. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha commented on the initiative, describing the open letter as a serious and substantial proposal to bring the war to a close. He emphasized that the message was directed not only at the dictator but also at 'Russians who are increasingly dissatisfied with the war.'
Opportunities for Diplomatic Dialogue
This move by Ukraine can be seen as a strong signal of its desire to pursue a peaceful resolution to a conflict that has now lasted for several years. The proposal for a direct meeting between the two countries' leaders opens the door for renewed diplomatic dialogue, which could represent a crucial step toward achieving stability in the region. At the same time, how the Kremlin responds to this initiative will be decisive in shaping what happens next.
