Ukraine Needs €90 Billion Loan to Prepare for Winter, Zelenskyy Says.
Loan Requirement and Security Agreement
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that his country requires a €90 billion loan to get ready for the upcoming heating season. He pointed out that several risks could hinder these preparations, making financial assistance essential for maintaining national stability.
Additionally, on March 30, Ukraine and Bulgaria signed a 10-year security pact, marking a major step in strengthening bilateral ties. Under this agreement, both nations plan to set up joint facilities for manufacturing drones and ammunition on their territories. The goal is to boost defensive capabilities and enhance regional security.
Ceasefire Readiness and Economic Concerns
Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine is open to an Easter ceasefire and willing to make compromises—but not at the expense of its sovereignty. Meanwhile, his wife, Olena Zelenska, commented that she cannot influence the president’s decision on whether he will run for reelection.
On the economic front, fuel prices remain elevated:
- Diesel could cost 95–96 hryvnias per liter
- Gasoline could be priced at 92–94 hryvnias
This situation is causing public concern and requires government attention.
Securing the €90 billion loan would be a critical move to support the country’s energy stability, especially amid high fuel costs. At the same time, the security agreement with Bulgaria underscores Ukraine’s intent to strengthen its defense through international cooperation. These steps could significantly impact both regional security and the country’s economic stability.
