As the war enters its fifth year, Zelenskyy extends Ramadan Bayram greetings to Muslims.
Zelenskyy’s Ramadan Bayram message
According to Novyny.live: On March 20, Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the Muslim community on the occasion of Ramadan Bayram, emphasizing the urgent need for peace amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, now in its fifth year. He recalled that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine began in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea, and the war has since continued, causing severe repercussions not only for Ukraine but also for the broader region and the world. This message comes at a time when Ukraine continues to face daily attacks and international calls for de-escalation.
Zelenskyy stated that Russia has failed to achieve any of its objectives on the battlefield, with Moscow suffering between 30,000 and 35,000 casualties per month. In light of this, the Ukrainian president expressed hope for peace and stability, noting that the war also impacts many other nations.
“Unfortunately, the war is also ongoing in the Middle East region and has a global impact on countries around the world,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Marking the end of Ramadan, Zelenskyy wished ‘above all, peace, strength, and prosperity to all Muslim families.’ Additionally, a meeting between the Ukrainian team and Russian representatives is expected in the United States, which could serve as a significant step toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Zelenskyy’s Ramadan Bayram greetings reflect not only the traditions of the holiday but also the pressing challenges Ukraine faces due to the protracted war. By underscoring the importance of peace, the president seeks to strengthen ties with the Muslim community while drawing attention to the global consequences of the conflict. The upcoming meeting with Russian officials in the U.S. may provide a crucial platform for discussing security and stability in the region, potentially shaping the course of events in and around Ukraine.
