On this occasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed SBU personnel, expressing gratitude for their critical role in defending the nation and countering Russian aggression. He emphasized the agency’s vital importance in safeguarding the state amid ongoing threats.
Zelenskyy paid tribute to fallen SBU officers, underscoring the profound significance of their service.
“We will always remember every warrior of the SBU—all the men and women who gave their lives so that Ukraine would exist and remain protected,” Zelenskyy stated.
The president further highlighted that Ukrainians have every reason to take pride in their Security Service, describing it as 'truly combat-ready, truly patriotic, and truly effective.'
SBU Operational Successes
Zelenskyy also recognized the SBU’s operational achievements, including the elimination of a GRU hitman who was plotting to assassinate Ukrainian activists Serhiy Sternenko and Illia Bohdanov. This success reflects the agency’s unwavering readiness to carry out its duties under the demanding conditions of Ukraine’s ongoing fight for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

As the war persists, countering threats from the Russian Federation remains a top priority for Ukrainian security forces. Honoring the memory of fallen SBU personnel also serves as a stark reminder to society of the human cost paid to protect the state and its citizens.
