Ukraine's Zelenskyy Rejects Any Land Swap with Russia.
Statement from Ukraine's President
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine will not consider trading any of its border territories for lands currently occupied by Russia in the east. He emphasized that the Kremlin's strategic goals in the Donbas region remain unchanged. According to Zelenskyy, no territorial concessions will be made.
Zelenskyy also noted that territories in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions had been discussed. He stressed:
'We cannot compare these lands' Volodymyr Zelenskyy
and added that 'this is not a gift [for them]'. In the president's view, any comparison of these territories in the context of an "exchange" is inappropriate.
Ukraine's Position on its Territories
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) plan to push the occupiers out of the border territories, demonstrating Ukraine's intent to hold these lands. Maintaining control of the border area is extremely difficult for the enemy, which underscores the strategic military importance of these regions.
The Donbas remains the Kremlin's primary objective, indicating the protracted nature of the conflict and the uncertainty surrounding its resolution. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine will not compromise on its territories and will continue to fight for their return.
This statement from Ukraine's president reinforces Kyiv's unwavering position on territorial integrity and demonstrates the nation's resolve in defending its national interests. As the war continues, sustained support from the international community remains crucial for Ukraine's defense and the future stability of the region.
