Zelensky on negotiations with Russia: "Putin has no desire to end the war".
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his position on possible negotiations with Russia and stated that he does not believe in the rhetoric of Vladimir Putin. In an interview with The New Yorker, Zelensky explained that he considers the Kremlin's statements about readiness for dialogue to be empty words.
"Putin has zero desire to end the war on any reasonable terms at all," Zelensky said. "I am ready to negotiate, let's sit down together," - but this is empty rhetoric, a fiction that prevents the world from uniting with Ukraine and isolating Putin."
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine seeks a just victory that satisfies everyone: "A just victory is one whose results satisfy everyone - those who respect international law, those who live in Ukraine, those who have lost their loved ones and relatives."
The President of Ukraine also criticized the approach of some world leaders to negotiations with Putin. He believes that many leaders want to have some dealings with Putin and do business, but for them, it is just a game. Zelensky claims that a true leader is one who needs Putin, not one who needs Putin.
Zelensky sees any negotiations with Putin or his entourage as unsuccessful, as he considers them "just his puppets".
