Zelenskyy Warns: Appeasing Russia Will Not End the War, Only Delay It.
Critique of Territorial Concessions
According to TSN.ua: In an interview with the Financial Times, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed suggestions that Ukraine should cede territory to end the war with Russia. He argued that such concessions would not stop the conflict, but merely postpone it. Zelenskyy rejected any temporary ceasefire without robust Western security guarantees, stating that Ukraine requires a definitive end to the war, not just a pause or a renegotiation of terms. His comments come amid ongoing international debate about potential paths to peace.
Call for Decisive Action
President Zelenskyy also expressed the view that pressure from former U.S. President Donald Trump is felt more strongly by Ukraine than by Russia.
"We do not need a pause. We need an end to the war,"he declared, emphasizing the necessity for decisive action against Russian aggression. He further underscored a deep-seated distrust, stating,
"Russia is Russia, and you know they cannot be trusted."
Zelenskyy appealed to the United States to intensify sanctions against Russia, asserting that 'it is costly for the Russians to stop their shadow fleet.' These statements reflect the Ukrainian leader's resolve in confronting the challenges posed by the prolonged conflict. The war, now in its third year, continues to shape global security dynamics.
President Zelenskyy's remarks outline a clear Ukrainian position on peace negotiations with Russia, where any territorial compromises are viewed as a threat to national security. His appeal for stronger U.S. sanctions highlights the critical importance of sustained international support for Ukraine's defense. This stance is likely to be a pivotal factor in shaping Ukraine's international strategy and influencing the future trajectory of the conflict.
