In his evening address, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the Budapest Memorandum is not effective and Ukraine needs effective security guarantees.
'Today marks 30 years since the Budapest Memorandum. Ten years of war. This document has not worked for a single day,' Zelensky stated.
The president also announced sanctions against individuals from Georgia whom he believes are drawing this country closer to Russia. He urged other partners of Ukraine to make similar decisions and warned that selling Georgia's interests to Russia would lead to nothing good.
During his address, Zelensky emphasized the important work of volunteers who were awarded the state award 'Golden Heart'.
The president also reported on negotiations with the NATO Secretary General and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands regarding the supply of weapons for the Ukrainian army.
'We need effective guarantees. That is, real alliance and a realistic security foundation within the country,' Zelensky emphasized.
