Zelenskyi following Trump plans to attend the funeral of the Pope.
The Office of the President of Ukraine plans to visit Rome for Volodymyr Zelenskyi's participation in the farewell ceremony for Pope Francis. This information has been confirmed by sources familiar with the president's plans, as well as the Office of the President. The First Lady Olena Zelenska will also participate in the visit.
The chief ceremonial master of Papal liturgical services, Archbishop Diego Ravelli, announced the details of the ceremony. After the prayer led by Cardinal Camerlengo Kevin Farrell, the coffin with the body of the deceased Pope Francis will be transferred to St. Peter's Basilica. The procession will pass through St. Martha's Square, Roman martyrs, and the archway under the bell tower to St. Peter's Square.
The Cardinal Camerlengo will lead the Liturgy of the Word at the main altar, after which all who wish will be able to pay their respects to the late Pope Francis. The funeral will take place on Saturday, April 26, at 10:00 a.m. World leaders are expected to come to the farewell ceremony, including U.S. President Donald Trump.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyi discussed issues of peace and the release of captives with the Secretary of State of the Vatican.
