According to UATV: Volodymyr Zelenskyy has addressed threats emanating from Tehran following Ukraine’s backing of Persian Gulf states. In an interview with i24NEWS and Jerusalem, he stressed the critical role of air defense systems for his country. The president noted that both the United States and Middle Eastern leaders had sought assistance with drone interception capabilities.
Rebuffing the Threats
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s National Security Commission, asserted that Tehran could strike Ukraine. In response, Zelenskyy pointed out that
“air defense is not about offensive capabilities”and emphasized that Ukraine remains unafraid of such rhetoric, stating:
“We have heard these kinds of statements every day for the past four years.”
These remarks highlight the persistent dangers Ukraine faces and underscore the need for ongoing international security cooperation. Zelenskyy’s comments reaffirm Ukraine’s continued prominence on the global stage, as regional tensions show no signs of easing.
Given the potential threat from Iran, the issue of air defense has become increasingly urgent, which could shape Ukraine’s future security partnerships with allies abroad.
