Zelensky on the role of the USA in negotiations: why this is a key moment for Ukraine.
According to ТСН: President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of the United States' involvement in 'peace negotiations,' commenting on the recent proposal from French leader Emmanuel Macron regarding a possible resumption of dialogue with Russia.
He expressed this opinion during an online conversation with journalists.
Zelensky noted that Macron indeed raised the issue of next steps if the USA cannot 'stop Russia.'
‘I told him and I repeat this openly once again: we need to fight for the United States of America. We need to fight for a format in which we, along with all allies, have America as a mediator and European allies who support us,’the President of Ukraine emphasized.
At the same time, he added that in the event of the failure of such a format, 'undoubtedly, everyone will begin to seek other options and other formats,' but stressed that it is necessary to 'still fight for this alliance.'
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Europe could resume direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin if the peace efforts initiated by the USA do not yield results.
Zelensky also conveyed his vision for a peaceful resolution to the United States and is awaiting a response from the Russian side.
The discussions between the Ukrainian and French leaders underscore the necessity for active participation from world powers in seeking paths to peace. In the context of rising tensions, it is important for the international community to remain united in its efforts to resolve the conflict and strengthen global security.
