Ukrainian Military Teams Deployed to the Middle East
According to TSN.ua: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the deployment of Ukrainian military personnel to the Middle East, specifically to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. This move comes as Ukraine seeks to build new international security partnerships while continuing to defend itself from Russian invasion. Zelenskyy stated that three fully staffed, professional teams have been dispatched, a decision resulting from his negotiations with the leaders of Qatar, the UAE, and Bahrain, where security cooperation was a key topic.
During his address, Zelenskyy also raised the issue of a shortage of missiles for air defense systems, specifically mentioning PAC-2 and PAC-3 systems.
"The first three countries to which we have sent personnel, according to our agreements, are Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia," he stated.Furthermore, the president emphasized the relevance of the 'drone deal' for the United States, remarking:
"The fact that the Middle East has a demand for our capabilities today is all part of the 'drone deal.'"
Prospects for Cooperation with the Middle East
This initiative signals a potential strengthening of Ukraine's collaboration with Middle Eastern nations amid ongoing global security challenges. Zelenskyy formally announced the deployment of the military group on March 8, 2023, underscoring Ukraine's active approach to fostering international military relations even during a time of war.
This strategic step could open new avenues for military and economic cooperation in the region, while also helping to solidify Ukraine's position on the global stage.
