Zelensky announces stepped-up strikes on Russia: Can diplomacy still end the war?.
Zelensky on Ukraine's intensified strikes against Russia
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared plans to escalate military strikes on Russian territory, insisting the goal is not to freeze the conflict but to achieve a diplomatic resolution. He made clear that Ukraine will not passively endure Russian aggression and is prepared to retaliate forcefully.
“We will not simply die in silence. We will fight back. We will grow stronger with each passing day,”he stated.
On June 6, 2026, Zelensky reported that Ukrainian drones had successfully hit targets up to 1,000 kilometers inside Russia. The strikes targeted facilities near Saint Petersburg, including naval arsenals and a base in Kronstadt. The president emphasized that Ukraine has developed a substantial arsenal of missiles and drones to conduct operations on enemy soil.
Ukraine's strategy in response to aggression
Zelensky also noted that freezing the front line could be the fastest way to end the war, but Ukraine's priority is to stop the conflict in a way that prevents its return.
“We want to stop the war so that it does not come back,”he added.
“We will bring their war back to their territory,”
the president concluded, underscoring the Ukrainian government's determination to counter aggression. These statements by President Zelensky about intensifying military action reflect Ukraine's ambition not only to defend its own territory but also to actively confront Russian aggression. Strikes on strategic targets inside enemy territory could shift the dynamics of the conflict, highlighting Ukraine's willingness to take drastic measures amid escalation. This approach may also influence the international community, which is closely monitoring developments and responding to the actions of both sides in the war.
