According to ТСН: During the night, Russian forces attacked Kyiv, trying to hit energy and civilian infrastructure. According to reports, the enemy launched nearly 500 drones and 40 missiles, among which were 'Kinzhal' missiles.

Consequences of the shelling

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that as a result of the Russian strikes, residential buildings and energy facilities were damaged. This led to power and heating outages for residents of the capital and the region. Rescuers and repair crews were able to begin work at only some facilities while others waited for the air raid alerts to end.

“Where is the Russian response to the proposals to end the war that were offered by the USA and the world? Russian representatives engage in lengthy discussions, but in reality, 'Kinzhal' and 'Shahed' do the talking for them. This reflects Putin and his entourage's true attitude. They do not want to end the war and are trying to use every opportunity to inflict more pain on Ukraine and increase their pressure on others in the world,” Zelensky stated.

The president noted that pressure on Moscow remains insufficient. He emphasized that America, Europe, and other partners of Kyiv should take advantage of this opportunity.

“If Russia even turns the Christmas and New Year period into a time of destroyed homes and burned apartments, and ruined power plants, then this sick activity can only be met with truly strong actions,” the president added.

Zelensky also stressed the need for timely delivery of arms, as “there should be no delays in protecting lives.”

It is known that during the night and in the morning, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with missiles and drones. During the attack, residential buildings were damaged; specifically, in the Dniprovskiy district, a UAV hit an 18-story building. There is a likelihood that there may be a person under the rubble as rescue operations continue.

Strike on energy infrastructure

The large-scale attack plunged Kyiv into cold and darkness. Over 2,600 residential buildings, 187 kindergartens, 138 schools, and 22 social institutions were left without centralized heating. Additionally, emergency power outages have been implemented.

This attack on the capital has become one of the most destructive in recent times, dealing significant blows to energy supply and residential infrastructure. The government and relevant services are already working on recovery, but the scale of the damage requires prompt action and support from the international community. Maintaining security and stability in the country has become an even more pressing task under these circumstances.
