Zelensky on the night attack by the Russian Federation: over 200 drones and targets on energy facilities.
According to ТСН: The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the attack that Russia carried out on the night of January 1.
In his statement, he noted:
"In the new year, Russia is purposefully bringing war: over 200 strike drones were launched against Ukraine this night. Most have been shot down, and I thank all our warriors who repelled this attack. They targeted the Volyn, Rivne, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions. The targets are our energy facilities. Everywhere it is necessary, rescuers are helping, energy workers are working to restore electricity after the strikes."
He also called on the global community to support Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor.
"There is equipment available in the allies. We hope that everything that was agreed upon with America at the end of December for our defense will arrive on time," he added.
According to the information from the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of January 1, 2026, Russian troops attacked the country with 205 drones of various types, of which approximately 130 were strike UAVs Shahed.
This attack was another attempt by Russia to harm Ukraine in the new year. Despite the ongoing threats, the Ukrainian military continues to fight to defend its territory and energy infrastructure. The global support that Ukraine hopes for is becoming increasingly relevant amid the growing aggression from Russia.
