President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his concern regarding the stance of Donald Trump and certain representatives of the Republican Party of the USA about the war in Ukraine.

In an interview with The New Yorker, the Ukrainian president commented on the recent statements by Trump and his possible vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance.

Zelensky noted that during the presidential debates, Trump avoided answering the question of whether he wants Ukraine to win over Russia. 'Trump makes political statements in his election campaign. He says he wants to stop the war. Well, we want that too. This phrase and this desire unite the world; everyone shares them. But here’s the scary question: who will take on the costs of ending the war?' - Zelensky said.

Regarding J.D. Vance, who proposed a plan that essentially implies Ukraine relinquishing part of its territory, Zelensky spoke sharply: 'He is too radical.' The President of Ukraine emphasized: 'The idea that the world should end this war at the expense of Ukraine is unacceptable.'

Zelensky warned that such proposals could have global consequences: 'The president or vice-president who raises this prospect—that the end of the war depends on cementing the status quo, with Ukraine simply giving up its land—should bear the responsibility for a potential start of a global war.'

The Ukrainian president also addressed the Jewish community in the USA: 'Let the Jewish people run a campaign to inform the public and explain why millions died because someone proposed to give away a piece of territory.'

Despite the criticism, Zelensky noted that his personal conversations with Trump were positive: 'He and I spoke on the phone, and his messaging was as positive as possible, from my perspective. 'I understand,' 'I will provide support,' and so on.'
